Understanding Logical Support

Warning: Do not memorize how the main point works for each of the 18 logical relationships!
Instead, think so as to understand which part is supporting the other.


You may have noticed that one relationship was skipped in the above run-down. That relationship is Action-Result.
For the rest of the logical relationships, the main point will rarely (if ever) switch to the other side. For the nature of each relationship dictates the logical subordination. However, Action-Result is the exception. While the Result piece is typically the main point of the relationship, there are times when the Result is shared as an aside, leaving the Action as the main point. This becomes important to identify as we move out beyond the first level of arcs, which in fact is our next topic of discussion.
