Bible Logic

Learn to “Arc” or “Bracket” a Verse

Many Christians read the Bible as if it were merely a collection of theological terms. “This verse is about endurance and perfection.” Sure, but what does it say about endurance and perfection? A word study won’t help us answer this question. To answer it, we must attend to all the small words within the verse—words like “for,” “when,” and “that.” Only then—only when we have explored the logic of a verse—can we really understand it; only then can we see the purpose, inference, condition, or the like in the text. This course will teach you the 18 types of logical relationships and equip you to discern which is at work in any given verse.

“Bible Logic” is a Biblearc Mini-Course. Mini-Courses are designed to help you make better use of Biblearc’s tools while also giving you a taste of our core “Path Courses” which cover the entire spectrum of Bible study training.

About the Arcing and Bracketing Courses

This course is an abbreviated version of our Bracketing Path Course, which teaches students to begin using the Bracketing Bible study method—not just with a single verse, but on an entire passage. This allows one to discern the main point of a text and to see how all its verses fit together. Thus, while the Bible Logic Mini-Course will be beneficial on its own in teaching you to observe and understand logical connections within a verse, many students will want to see how this discipline works out when applied to a full passage of Scripture.
In addition, this Mini-Course also serves as a suitable introduction to our Arcing Path Course. The Arcing Bible study method is conceptually identical to the Bracketing Bible study method, though each displays the logical connections of a passage in a distinct way.
