Lesson 3 | Grammar & Propositions

Review

Grammatical details are both ordinary and grace-filled!
So pursue a deeper understanding of grammar.

What we learned this lesson

  1. Understanding verbs, subjects, and objects is critical for breaking up a passage into propositions and understanding the text properly.
  2. God chose to reveal himself in two human and ordinary means: his written Word and Christ the Word. We must not ignore Christ's humanity or Scripture's grammar.
  3. When dividing the text in Arcing, each proposition should contain one verb.
  4. So do not divide verbs in simple substantival clauses, relative clauses with a defining role, helping verbs, or complementary verbs.
  5. But you may at times divide prepositional phrases and implied verbs.
