Lesson 7 | The Word and the World [2]
Assignment: Article
Write an article related to a text that you have studied via Arcing, Bracketing or Phrasing.
A warning in selecting a passage and topic: There are at least three different ways you can land on a topic which you would like to teach.
1. While reading the Bible, you realize that this is an important topic to teach on in general. Great!
2. While living life, you see or experience an issue that immediately brings scripture texts to your mind. Wonderful!
3. While living life, you see or experience an issue that you want to say something about. So you go looking for Bible texts that relate.
The third way mentioned here is to be avoided. The reason being that the catalyst of your desire to speak into the issue is not coming from the Bible. Rather, it would seem, you want to share your opinions on the topic and hope to find passages which you might use to do so.
1. Prepare an arc, bracket or phrase of your choice. This may be work you have done in the past, or a new study. You must be the author of this work. It may come from either the Old or New Testament. Be sure it includes a main point summary.
2. Write a sharp, concise, and Christ-focused article on a topic to which your chosen text relates in a Notes tab.
Include at least one point derived from your exegesis of the text in your arc, bracket, or phrase.
Include one aspect of “desperation” in the world that you answer from Scripture.
Include one question that the world asks, and answer it from your passage.
Write one explanation of difficult wording in your passage.
3. Add your arc, bracket, or phrase to the Notes tab. Do so by clicking the icon to add a Study Module and then selecting the desired module. Share this notes tab.
When you are finished, submit the lesson. Your coach will give you feedback, typically within 3-5 days.
