Lesson 10 | Critical components
Love God and your hearers
Reminders for just before you teach
To love to preach is one thing, to love those to whom we preach is quite another.
Martyn Lloyd-Jones
Look around at the faces of people you will be teaching, and commit afresh in your heart to loving them. Pray for them and cry out to the Lord for help to truly build them up in him. And more importantly still, remind yourself of the weighty presence of God in the room. See him there with the eyes of your heart, and tremble. Then set your aim to please him alone.

The words of your teaching may or may not flow. Your points may or may not be profound. The delivery may or may not be powerful. But ultimately, all that will last in your teaching is your love for God and his people.
If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.
1 Corinthians 13:1-2
