Bracketing (Română)

Greek Cross-Training is a live, interactive class that meets weekly via Zoom to read and translate Philippians together. We will use a variety of strategies to help you engage with the text. The main focus will be on exercising your reading muscles.

We will not use class time to review vocabulary. However, we will provide resources to help you build your vocabulary on your own.

You are fairly new to language studies and desire to strengthen your basic knowledge.

You once had a good grasp of the language but have since become rusty and want to regain what was lost.

You are already a proficient reader of Greek and yet want to advance your skills and enjoy the camaraderie offered in such a course as this.

“Perhaps the principal reason why word studies constitute a particularly rich source for exegetical fallacies is that many preachers and Bible teachers know Greek only well enough to use concordances, or perhaps a little more. There is little feel for Greek as a language; and so there is the temptation to display what has been learned in study, which as often as not is a great deal of lexical information without the restraining influence of context. The solution, of course, is to learn more Greek, not less.”

This course equips men with principles and insights on how to turn an arc, bracket or phrase into a teaching. Such Bible study methods are excellent tools for getting at the meaning of a text of Scripture, and yet training is still needed to properly and powerfully convey that meaning to others. Join us as we wrestle through aspects of authority and application, context and decisions, genres and cultures—in hopes of growing as faithful stewards of the word of God.

This course series equips students with the ability to read and understand the NT in Koine Greek, its original language. Greek III covers indicative verbs in particular, with an emphasis on reading the text, understanding the fundamentals, and learning the vocabulary—so as to empower students to better know and teach the NT. This course series takes a unique approach to learning Biblical Hebrew, utilizing worship songs in Hebrew as the basis for learning. By immersing ourselves in Hebrew songs, absorbing vocabulary and studying grammar becomes more of a joyful activity and less of a chore. This method also directs our study of Biblical Hebrew straight to its end goal from the start—to glorify the God who has given us his priceless word. Thus, the aim of this course series is to take someone without any knowledge of Hebrew and to equip him/her to begin reading and understanding the text.

Hebrew III greatly expands students’ knowledge of verbs, covering the imperfect form, imperatives, and infinitives. We also will examine cantillation marks in more detail, all while continuing to add on more vocabulary. These topics round off all major grammatical features of biblical Hebrew, making “Reading the Old Testament” a truly fitting subtitle and legitimate expectation for students.

Its aim is to equip students to find the main point of a text and to see how its propositions fit together, to the end of knowing God through the better understanding of his word. We will take a hands-on approach to learning as we work through the first chapter of Philippians together.

Bracketing

This course lays out the foundational concepts and structures necessary to begin using the Arcing Bible study method. Arcing has been well-tested and found to be an excellent tool for digging deep in God's Word. Join us in a study that will challenge you to think harder and dive way below the surface as we work through the first chapter of James together.

This close and detailed grammatical study will lead to an accurate understanding of the author’s original intent in a passage, which we pray will culminate in joyful treasuring of and heartfelt obedience to Jesus Christ.
