About the "studying with precision" series

To precisely divide the Word of God, we must learn the biblical languages. This is a long, hard road—but one with great reward. It is through a careful study of Hebrew and Greek that the gospel is guarded from false teaching. It is by the study of these ancient languages that the Church is adorned with the full counsel of God.

Successful completion of Greek I, or equivalent (see the Course Objectives here).

This course is composed of ten lessons, with each lesson ending in an assignment. A single lesson will take the average student three to four hours to complete. Students are invited to progress at their own pace. Your coach will inquire as to your intended pace shortly after you begin and help keep you accountable to stay on schedule.

Path courses all end with an assessment to determine your grasp of the skills learned and material covered. Successfully passing an assessment requires a high degree of understanding and is meant to serve as a motivation to take your study seriously as well as a catalyst to improve the standard of Bible study in the Biblearc community.

Students who successfully complete the course and pass the assessment will earn Biblearc’s Greek II Certificate (see sample). They will also earn exciting rewards.

If you do not pass an assessment, you may retry after one week’s time.

This course seeks to equip students with the ability to read and understand the NT in Koine Greek, its original language. It’s aimed at students who have completed Greek I, or the equivalent. This course covers non-finite verbs in particular, with an emphasis on reading the text, understanding the fundamentals, and learning the vocabulary—so as to empower students to better know and teach the NT. Above all, this course seeks to magnify Jesus through the NT in its original language.

Assignment, pt.1

Find and parse the perfect (stative) participle.

Look through Matthew 5:1–26 to find the one perfect participle in these verses. You do not need to translate, just find the perfect participle. Then color it purple to show that it is in the perfect tense-form, and highlight it purple to show that it is a participle.

Next, copy or write the perfect participle from the phrasing module and paste it into the notes module.

Finally, parse the participle. Remember to identify the three key features and include its tense-form, voice, case, gender, number, and lexical form.

(1) πεπωρωμένην - perfect, passive, participle, accusative, feminine, singular from πωρέω.
