Lesson 4 | Vocab

Assignment

Translate Matthew 5:13–16 by using the five-step translation process:
  1. Clauses: Divide the text into clauses. (Note that we aren't coloring or highlighting present participles now that you’ve learned them. So when you find the one present participle in this passage, color it green to show that it is in the present tense-form, and highlight it purple to show that it is a participle.)
  2. Main Verb: Identify the main verb in the clause.
  3. Subject: Identify the verb’s subject (if there is one).
  4. Object: Identify the verb’s object or predicate nominative (if there is one).
  5. Extras: Identify and diagram the remaining parts.

(1) Color and highlight the present participle; (2) Divide and diagram; (3) Translate
