Lesson 7 | Perfect Participles
[2] Perfect Participles
It is time to finish filling in our three key features summary chart with the information for perfect participles. As before, take one line of the perfect tense-form at a time, and examine its application to the verb λύω.
You should memorize the Greek Participles: 3 Key Features chart. With this information, you will be able to parse most participles.
Example
λελυ+μεν+ην
[Stem]
[Tense Former]
[Ending]
The reduplication in front of the stem reveals the perfect tense, and the middle-passive tense former shows that this is a middle or passive participle. The ending is from the First Noun Pattern. So, we can put that all together and parse λελυμένην as a perfect, middle or passive, participle, accusative, feminine, singular from λύω.
This quizlet will help you practice parsing perfect participles by including only forms of λύω. Focus on the three key features as you parse each participle.
