Lesson 6 | Phrasing in Greek

Devotional: Praying Imperatives

(You may have noticed by the colored highlights that, in this prayer and in Jesus’ instruction, the negative commands are not imperatives, but subjunctives. That is a regular pattern in the Greek NT as you learned back in Lesson 4.)

Prayer

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done—on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
Amen.
