Lesson 6 | Adjectives and Adverbs

Guided Practice 1: John 10:14-15

We learned a lot in this lesson. Now, it’s time to put what we learned into practice. You know the drill.
  1. Read the text aloud
  2. Diagram and translate the text by using our five-step process
  3. Clauses: Divide the text into clauses
  4. Main Verb: Identify the main verb
  5. Subject: Identify the verb’s subject
  6. Object: Identify the verb’s object (or predicate nominative)
  7. Extras: Identify and diagram the remaining parts
  8. Watch the video to check your work.
For adjectives, you have two options. You could wait to diagram any adjectives until Step 5. However, I suggest that you diagram an adjective with the word it modifies. So, if an adjective describes the verb’s subject, then diagram that adjective in Step 3 with the verb's subject. If an adjective modifies the direct object, then diagram it in Step 4 with the verb's direct object.

(1) Read aloud. (2) Diagram & translate with the 5 Steps.
