Lesson 9 | Perfect (Stative) Participles

Guided Practice 1: Matthew 13:47

You learned about perfect participles in this lesson. You now know the forms of the main participles in the Greek NT. Now, it is time for you to put what you learned into practice by translating passages from the Greek NT that contain participles. Since there was only one grammar point in this lesson, this section will be longer than normal. I hope that it will help you to solidify your understanding of participles before moving on.
This step begins with a quizlet that contains 30 different participles from verbs you already learned. Take time to parse each card by focusing on the participle’s key features. When you make a mistake, take the time to review the card until you understand what you missed. I suggest that you use a paper and pencil to write down each parsing.

Now, it is time to practice translating sentences with participles. Remember, you are translating the word of God! Ask the Lord to provide his Spirit so that you tremble at his words even as you struggle to translate them.
