Lesson 1 | The Basics
Guided Practice
This is the time in the lesson when we practice what we learned. For this lesson, we are going to practice reading the Greek NT together. We have two goals for this section: (1) Make sure you know the Greek letters and their sounds and (2) Use what you learned to start reading the Greek NT. Let’s return to Rev 21:5–8. We will practice reading each clause. Then, we will practice reading them together:
Read one clause out loud.
Listen to the audio clip.
Read the clause again.
Pay special attention to the vowel combos and look for words that we learned in the last step.
Καὶ εἶπεν ὁ καθήμενος ἐπὶ τῷ θρόνῳ·
γράψον, ὅτι οὗτοι οἱ λόγοι πιστοὶ καὶ ἀληθινοί εἰσιν.
ἐγώ εἰμι τὸ ἄλφα καὶ τὸ ὦ, ἡ ἀρχὴ καὶ τὸ τέλος.
ἐγὼ τῷ διψῶντι δώσω ἐκ τῆς πηγῆς τοῦ ὕδατος τῆς ζωῆς δωρεάν.
ὁ νικῶν κληρονομήσει ταῦτα
καὶ αὐτὸς ἔσται μοι υἱός.
τοῖς δὲ δειλοῖς καὶ ἀπίστοις καὶ ἐβδελυγμένοις καὶ φονεῦσιν καὶ πόρνοις καὶ φαρμάκοις καὶ εἰδωλολάτραις καὶ πᾶσιν τοῖς ψευδέσιν τὸ μέρος αὐτῶν ἐν τῇ λίμνῃ τῇ καιομένῃ πυρὶ καὶ θείῳ,
ὅ ἐστιν ὁ θάνατος ὁ δεύτερος.
