Lesson 2 | Greek Nouns: The First Noun Pattern

In this step, we want to practice and use what we learned to read the Greek NT. Below, you will find five verses from the Greek NT with first pattern nouns. You need to do the following things:
Read the verse aloud.
Parse any first pattern nouns. This means that you need to identify the noun’s lexical form (what it looks like in the nominative case), along with its case, gender, and number. For example, I would parse ἥμερᾳ by saying: dative, feminine, singular from ἥμερα. You can write your answer in the box below the verse.
Try to translate the first pattern nouns using the helps provided and your own parsing work. Remember, a noun’s case–not word order–tells us about its role in the sentence. You can write your answer in the box below the verse.
Click on the video after each clause to check your work against mine. This will not be easy, but do not get overwhelmed. Do the best you can to find and parse the first pattern nouns.
