Biblearc EQUIP

Each week, students will read through one lesson, complete an assignment, and meet together in a virtual classroom via Zoom. Students who enroll should expect to attend the class and complete each lesson and assignment on time.

During the live class time, a teacher will teach new content based on that week’s lesson, facilitate group discussions, and lead students through exercises and passages that apply the skills and knowledge taught by the lesson. Students will also be able to sign up for one-on-one coaching times with their coach.

Weekly Requirements: The course requires students to complete three tasks each week:

Read the lesson content (about 1.5 hours)

Complete the assignment (about 1.5-2.5 hours)

Participate in a live class (about 1 hour)

Assignments: Weekly assignments force students to apply the material they learn.

Assessment: During the final week of the course, students will prepare to take a one-hour assessment. Successfully passing the assessment requires a high degree of understanding and is meant to serve as a motivation to take your study seriously and learn the language well.

Certificate: Students who successfully complete the course and pass the assessment will earn Biblearc’s Hebrew I Certificate (see sample). If you do not pass an assessment, you may retry after one week’s time.

This live class meets on Thursdays at 3pm ET from February 6th – April 10th.

This course series takes a unique approach to learning Biblical Hebrew, utilizing worship songs in Hebrew as the basis for learning. By immersing ourselves in Hebrew songs, absorbing vocabulary and studying grammar becomes more of a joyful activity and less of a chore. This method also directs our study of Biblical Hebrew straight to its end goal from the start—to glorify the God who has given us his priceless word. Thus, the aim of this course series is to take someone without any knowledge of Hebrew and to equip him/her to begin reading and understanding the text.

Hebrew I covers nouns, pronouns, prepositions, and conjunctions, with an emphasis on reading and translating the text, understanding the fundamentals, and learning vocabulary.

How sweet is it to know that our God is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in loving-kindness! This does not mean that we can manipulate him or demand his forgiveness. But it does mean that we always know the best thing to do in each and every circumstance—to humbly look (and keep looking) to him for mercy. This is definitely something to sing about!

Don’t forget to carefully translate each suffix, and watch for nouns in the construct state!

You may notice the relative prefix. We have not included a blank here because it is awkward and unnecessaryto translate in this case.

Remember: Nouns with pronoun suffixes are by definition in the construct state.

Parse the suffixes on the following nouns. Use single-letter abbreviations in the following order: person, gender, then number. For example, ךָ in בְעֵינֶיךָ would be parsed 2ms.
