Lesson 1 | Letters
Guided Practice
It is time to practice your letters!
To help you master the pronunciation of Hebrew consonants, type out a transliteration of Isaiah 44:24. This is not a translation, (writing the equivalent words in English), but a transliteration: typing out the equivalent sounds in English.
For example, the English word “amen” is a transliteration of the Hebrew word אָמֵן. But since you haven’t learned vowels, we want you just to type out the consonants. So for אָמֵן, you would write “-mn.” (Note that silent letters should be represented by a dash. For ו, use v. For י, use y.)
Do your best to do the exercise without looking at the Hebrew Alphabet chart, but keep it beside you in case you get stuck. כּה אמר יהוה גאלך ויצרך מבּטן אנכי יהוה עשׂה כּל נטה שׁמים לבדי רקע הארץ מי אתי׃
