Lesson 2 | Adjectives

[2] In the Songs We’ve Learned

We’ve already seen several adjectives in the songs we learned in Hebrew I, and in the previous lesson.

Here we find the adjective חָדָשׁ being used in the attributive position.
וַיִּתֵּן בְּפִי שִׁיר חָדָשׁ - “he put a new song in my mouth”

This is the demonstrative pronoun in the attributive position that we mentioned. It is also definite.
וְאָמַר בַּיּוֹם הַהוּא – “and he will say on that day”

In this song, we find the adjective שָׂמֵחַ being used in the predicate position.
הָיִינוּ שְׂמֵחִים – “we were happy

The word אַדִּיר in Ps 8:2 is also used in the predicate position.
מָה־אַדִּיר שִׁמְךָ - “how majestic is your name”
