Lesson 8 | Vocab

Song: הִנֵּה אֱלֹהֵינוּ

Isaiah 25 contains some of the most wonderful verses of the Bible: God promises the destruction of death and removal of tears for his people. “At last—our God whom we waited for has delivered us!” As you sing, may the Lord move your heart to wait for this day in faith and joy.

You know a large number of the words in the song, but there are some that appear fewer than 100 times in the תנ״ך and so have not been in your vocab, as well as one that occurs 300 times but you won’t learn until Hebrew III (סוּר). Click through them in the box below to get a sense of their meaning, and look at their cognates in the boxes below. Then listen to the song again.

(In the passage component above, you may have noticed that we have left out a letter פ between verses 8 and 9 in the song animation. This is not actually a word, but rather a scribal way of indicating the end of a major section. Likewise, a ס appearing after a verse indicates the end of a minor section.)
