New Vocabulary
Now it is time to learn the vocabulary words for Lesson 5. You will learn 18 new words: 13 nouns, four verbs, and one adverb/particle. Watch for cognates next to each other to aid your memory, and practice saying the words as you study them.
This is identical in form to אַף, “nose, anger,” which you learned in Hebrew III.
If you hit a baseball over the wall, it is a “homer”!

This is a cognante to the verb כָּסָה, “cover,” from Hebrew III.
draw near, approach (verb)
Compare this with נָשָׂא, “lift up, carry,” from Hebrew I.
This is sometimes seen in the feminine, פָּרָה, “cow.”
If you bury a water pipe in the ground, you “cover” it. Also, note that there is a cognate noun used 67 times in the OT, קֶבֶר, “grave.”
