Lesson 5 | Vocab

Assignment

Instructions

  1. Use the cheat sheet to highlight the aspect/mood of all verbs.
  2. Divide up the text into verbal units, using the cantillation marks as a guide.
  3. Indent offline clauses appropriately. The content of the prayer (starting in verses 2-4), since it is poetry, doesn’t follow the mainline/offline verb structure of narrative. Therefore, simply divide up the lines of the prayer based on verbs, indenting the content of direct speech to the left of the verb that introduces it. Also, add a space after verse 2 and verse 3.
  4. Label the category of each offline clause in the “Mine” column. But you need not do this for the content of the prayer (vv. 2–4).
  5. Translate the text.
Note: The versification in the Phrasing module is keyed to the English, as are the Helps and Translation tabs, while the heading is keyed to the Hebrew. The English versification will be one verse behind the Hebrew until the end of chapter 2.

Markup, divide, indent, label, and translate the text.
