Lesson 6: Using The Four Branches of Theology

We Can and Should Understand the Bible

Prayer

Lord,
My heart is still bent to wander, and my mind is prone to error. I have blind spots; I have an imperfect understanding of your Word; I can’t hold every verse of your Word in my head at the same time. So please help me. Help me not to twist your Word, but to rightly interpret it by following Paul's example in Galatians.
In Christ's name,
Amen.

Primary Principle:

The Bible demands that we interpret it theologically.

Objectives

By the end of this lesson, students will be able to…
  1. ...provide an example in Galatians regarding how to interpret the Bible theologically.
  2. ...define the four branches of theology.
  3. ...explain how to use each branch of theology as they interpret the Bible.
