Lesson 5 | Heed the Commands

Walk in the Truth

But to walk in the truth, we must understand the truth.
What better way to start us thinking about the folly of obedience to commands we don’t understand than the classic children’s book Amelia Bedelia. It is Amelia Bedelia’s first day at work as a maid for Mr. and Mrs. Rogers. She is given a list of todos and told, “You do just what the list says.” And so she does. Let’s look at a few pages together...
I love this silly story…but God forbid that we would obey Scripture like Amelia Bedelia! Sadly, many folks do. The next three lessons focus on discerning what steps of obedience a passage of the Bible is actually calling for.
  • In this lesson, we explore a variety of ways the Scriptures calls us to obey.
  • Lesson 6 stirs us to look for the truths that motivate our obedience.
  • Lesson 7 presses further to consider instruction in how we may walk in obedience.
