Biblical authors surrounded their exhortations with a host of truths to motivate our obedience. We call them anchors and aims. Getting these motivations right gives vitality to our obedience—turning mere duty into a joyful obedience born of faith.

The question “Why?” searches out the realities that motivate our obedience. The Bible offers two sorts of answers to the question “Why?”
Anchors:
  1. Truths about God
  2. Truths about man
  3. Gospel truths
Aims:
  1. Promises
  2. Warnings
  3. Biblical values and priorities
