Lesson 2 | Expansion

Assignment: 2Co 3:1–3

Now it’s your turn to practice expansion. We have provided the bracket for you; it’s your job to fill in the MINE column. But before you dive in, here is a writers tip.

Get to the subject of your sentence quickly. Begin sentences with long phrases and clauses only occasionally.¹

Instructions

  • Write a paraphrase of 2Co 3:1–3 in the MINE column, applying at least 5 of the “unpacking principles” listed below the bracket.
  • As you apply each principle, check off the box and highlight the portion of your paraphrase in which you exercised that principle with the appropriate color.
From here on out, assignments will be set up as brackets. However, if you prefer Arcing over Bracketing, that is no problem. Simply open the module options (by clicking the passage reference), check “Show arcs” and uncheck “Show brackets.”
