Assignment: Writing Restatements

Remember that creative writing exercise we discussed and demonstrated for you? Now it’s your turn to give it a try in Part 2! (Find Part 1 of the assignment back on the Commentary vs. Paraphrase-Style step.) Then, in Part 3, we will move to paraphrasing key verses from 2 Corinthians 1–2.

Part 2: Restate the following sentence in your words 5 times. “The cat slept on the windowsill during the afternoon sun.”

Part 3

  • Read each verse carefully several times.
  • Move your eyes away from the words and reflect on its meaning for a minute.
  • Write a 1–3 sentence paraphrase in the box below each verse. Attempt to capture the tone and perspective of the author in your own words.
