Encyclopedias and Dictionaries
Biblical encyclopedias have a wealth of information on every imaginable biblical topic. Having a set on your shelf or in your digital library gives you access to helpful explanations of just about anything you need to know about the Bible.
However, their comprehensive nature makes them expensive. But good news! There is one great exception: the Lexham Bible Dictionary, which is currently free. (See details below.) It is available only for Logos Bible software; however, the related website Biblia.com can be accessed for free, and it includes access to the Lexham Bible Dictionary as well as other resources.
The best way to use an encyclopedia is not to read it through but to turn to it when you meet a word or concept in the Bible that stumps you or that you want to explore further.
