Lesson 3: The Contextual Horizon (1)

Building Your Bibliography

Starting here, you’ll spend the rest of the course building a personal bibliography, choosing resources for each of the Five Horizons (see the next step) from ones that I recommend, and from elsewhere if you choose. You’ll be using these resources for your study of Haggai in subsequent lessons.

Instructions:

  1. Open this Google Doc bibliography template and click “File” > “Make a copy…” from the Google Docs menu. (If you're unable to use Google Docs, please contact your coach for an alternative solution.)
  2. Make sure your coach will be able to see your copy:
  3. Click "Share" at the top right corner of the screen.
  4. Type your coach's email address in the box that says "Add people and groups."
  5. Make sure the "Notify people" box is checked.
  6. Select "Commenter" from the drop-down menu on the right.
  7. Click "Send."
  8. Your new copy is editable, so you can now fill in your chosen resources.
  9. Choose at least three commentaries from the Haggai Annotated Bibliography below (not including that by Michael Stead, which is included with your Biblearc EQUIP subscription), and add their bibliographical information in the Contextual Horizon section under “Commentaries.” (You may choose only free commentaries or some that need to be purchased; however, since this list is for you to use in subsequent assignments, you need to purchase any commentaries in your bibliography that are not free.)
  10. Follow Chicago style for each resource. The included commentary follows this style. For guidance on including different types of resources, see this Citation Quick Guide.
