Learn to ask good questions and highlight thoughtfully in your Bible study.
Students of the Bible have been taking pen in hand to underline the text of Scripture and add notes to the margins of their Bibles for generations. Adding markups and notes is an effective way to slow down your reading in order to carefully observe what the text says and meditate on its meaning and implications for your life.
Biblearc’s Markup Course will equip believers with carefully composed strategies for marking up the text of Scripture. Employing these “lenses” in your study will empower you to behold far more than you might otherwise see.

What Are the 7 Lenses?
This course will walk you through seven different thoughtful ways to markup your Bible, equipping you to strategically use highlighters with each passage you study in your physical Bible, or apply multiple lenses to a single passage using Biblearc’s Markup module. The seven lenses are: Attention Getters – Start with what grabs you attention, add labels, color-code, and record initial observations.
Questions – Develop the skill of asking probing questions, highlighters and pen in hand.
Topics – Note the topics contained in a passage and determined which is central.
Commands+ – Find the anchors, aims, means, and manners of a text.
Context – Carefully note how the chapters before and after illuminate a passage of study.
Transitions – Spot the transition markers in a text to better understand the flow.
Theology – Cap off your observations by noting theological insights from the text.

What Former Students Say About “Markup”
This course has helped my Bible study become deeper, leading me to see the importance of every word, ask more probing questions, and come to a fuller understanding of what God is revealing in the Scriptures.
If you are like me who used to not know how to read the Bible, I strongly recommend this course. This course will teach you how to observe your Bible better which by itself is so beneficial and enjoyable.
The mark up course has opened my eyes to a multitude of wisdom in Scripture that, despite studying the Word for years, I have not thought to take note of or dig into. Having these skills put into one course is a complete game changer for how I now read and study the Bible.
How Does the Class Work?
The class will meet 10 times with an in-person Biblearc instructor who will introduce the material for the next lesson. Using Biblearc’s online curriculum, you will then be able to review that week’s lesson, take instant-feedback quizzes, practice the newly learned skill, and complete an assignment. You will receive feedback on your assignment from a Biblearc coach a few days later, and also be able to interact with follow-up questions to that feedback. Finally, the course concludes with a 1-hour assessment. Requirements
All students must have access to a smartphone, tablet, or computer with internet access.
Students should expect to spend ~2 hours outside of class each week reviewing the lesson and completing the assignment.
