Lesson 8 | Deeper Relationships
Review
Don't stay at the surface.
Dig deep and look for diamonds!
What we learned this lesson
Key distinctions between relationships:
Alternative shows two options, while Negative-Positive acts like two sides of the same coin.
Action-Manner can be thought of as the Idea-Explanation of verbs, telling us more about the action happening.
When the conjunction “for” is used…
Is it a restatement of what was said before? It is an Idea-Explanation.
Is it making a distinct statement which supports what preceded? It is a Ground.
Inference focuses more on the logical outcome of a truth or reality, while Action-Result is event-oriented and connotes a cause-effect relationship.
Action-Purpose emphasizes intentionality; Action-Result emphasizes outcome.
Choose the deeper relationship:
Distinguish between what someone says and what someone means.
But beware the temptation to use "deeper" concepts to stand over the Bible and twist it to mean whatever you want.
