Lesson Objectives
With the creativity of a master artist, God invented physical laws that cause the contrary to support that which it is contrary to. Such is the case with oil and water. They are indeed contrary to each other, but when placed in the same container, the oil will be supported by the water in every instance. The contrary nature of water ends up working for the benefit of the oil, floating it to the surface.
Ideas are not different. Carefully listening to the arguments and stories of others will reveal countless instances in which statements contrary to one’s primary point will be utilized to support that point. The Bible employs this tool with skillful precision, bringing out the counterintuitive and objectionable to reinforce its glorious truths. In this lesson, we will discover the two fundamental categories of contrary support.
