At last, it’s time to zoom in on the first pass! Let’s see how you do it.

Before we move on, we want to emphasize one point about the first pass from the video above: it is important to keep subjects and verbs together. In 16c in the passage above, we extracted “in him” from between the subject “whoever” and its verb “should not perish.” Verbs and their direct objects must also be kept together.
Summary: Both subjects and verbs, as well as verbs and direct objects, must be kept together on the same line. Do not divide them into different lines.
At times, this will require you to extract phrases from in between subjects and verbs, or verbs and direct objects.
