Bracketing LIVE

Determining Main Point and Structure

This course lays out the foundational concepts and structures necessary to begin using the Bracketing Bible study method. Its aim is to equip students to find the main point of a text and to see how its propositions fit together, to the end of knowing God through the better understanding of his word. We will take a hands-on approach to learning as we work through the first chapter of Philippians together.

About the "putting it together" series

On the foundation of keen observation skills and biblical interpretation principles, this series puts the focus on the central study objective of our efforts—discerning what the text means. Included here are the preferred Bible study methods of some of the best Bible teachers of our day—methods that help us see how texts grammatically and logically connect, taught in a way so that any serious Christian can learn.

Course format

Each week, students will read through one lesson, complete an assignment, and meet together in a virtual classroom via Zoom. Students who enroll should expect to attend the class and complete each lesson and assignment on time.
During the live class time, a teacher will teach new content based on that week’s lesson, facilitate group discussions, and lead students through exercises and passages that apply the skills and knowledge taught by the lesson. Students will also be able to sign up for one-on-one coaching times with their coach.

Course requirements

Weekly Requirements: The course requires students to complete three tasks each week:
  1. Read the lesson content (about 1.5 hours)
  2. Complete the assignment (about 1-1.5 hours)
  3. Participate in a live class (about 1 hour)
Assignments: Weekly assignments force students to apply the material they learn.
Assessment: During the final week of the course, students will prepare to take a one-hour assessment. Successfully passing the assessment requires a high degree of understanding and is meant to serve as a motivation to take your study seriously as well as a catalyst to improve the standard of Bible study in the Biblearc community.
Certificate: Students who successfully complete the course and pass the assessment will earn Biblearc’s Bracketing Certificate (see sample). They will also earn exciting rewards. If you do not pass an assessment, you may retry after one week’s time.
