Lesson 9 | Searching the Original

Adding To Our 3-Step Process

We do not have any steps to add to our process this time. But that doesn’t mean the process hasn’t gotten better!

1. Read the passages that the writer expects you to be familiar with.

2. Study the passage of focus.

3. Use Bible study tools to refine your study

  1. View cfs to clarify and get context
  2. Read the context of cfs as needed
  3. Consider footnotes
  4. Examine different translations and their footnotes
  5. Supplement with a search [OF AN ORIGINAL LANGUAGE WORD]
  6. [DOUBLE] Check key original language words
Your skills in searching topical, theological, and exegetical questions just got upgraded big time! For exegetical questions in particular, crafting your search with original language words can often uncover answers that would otherwise remain hidden.
As for checking key original language searches, rarely are you going to find the lexicon entries were wrong, but it makes a difference when you see it with your own eyes. (Think back to the devotional from Psalm 23.)
