Lesson 10 | Quotations & Allusions

Adding To Our 3-Step Process

It is time to add the last sub-step to our 3-Step Discovery Process.

1. Read the passages that the writer expects you to be familiar with.

2. Study the passage of focus.

3. Use Bible study tools to refine your study

  1. View cfs to clarify and get context
  2. Read the context of cfs as needed
  3. Consider footnotes
  4. Examine different translations and their footnotes
  5. Supplement with a search
  6. Check key original language words
  7. DO A DEEP DIVE INTO A CITATION OR ALLUSION
As has been made clear in this lesson, you are not being sent off as pros in terms of how to do a deep dive into a citation of allusion. But you are being launched off in the right direction. Remember that the Bible is not supposed to be simplistic and that genre and redemptive history are important to consider. Take your time and wrestle through citations and allusions within your church body. The Lord will give you understanding in due time (2 Timothy 2:7).
