Lesson 8 | Third Noun Pattern

Guided Practice 1: Romans 1:5-6

There are four practice assignments in the next four steps that focus on third pattern nouns. For each one:
  1. Read the text aloud
  2. Diagram and translate the text by using our 5-step process
  3. Clauses: Divide the text into clauses
  4. Main Verb: Identify the main verb
  5. Subject: Identify the verb’s subject
  6. Object: Identify the verb’s object (or predicate nominative)
  7. Extras: Identify and diagram the remaining parts
  8. Watch the video to check your work.
For the first step (clauses), you need to use the phrasing module. Once you divide the clauses, you can use the diagramming module to complete the remaining four steps. I colored the verbs in various colors so that you can easily identify them in each clause. If you do not know a word, click on the word to bring up its information. However, whenever possible try to parse the word before you click on it, even if you do not know the word. I suggest that you work with a piece of paper so that you can write down the parsing for each word.

(1) Read aloud. (2) Diagram & translate with the 5 Steps.
