Lesson 3 | Vowels

Assignment

This is the longest passage you’ve been asked to read out loud so far! But you already know many of the words, and you know all the consonants and the vowels. Practice as much as you need before you make the recording, keeping the following instructions in mind:
  1. Each word should be read as a distinct word. That is to say, there should not be pauses within a single word, but there should be a slight pause between words.
  2. You are free to pronounce יְהוָה as “Adonai” or “Yahweh.”
  3. While you need not read the text quickly, you must learn the letters well enough to be able to complete it within 2 minutes.¹
  4. This assignment does not include attempting to understand the Hebrew. However, look out for the words in the text which you have already learned.
