Lesson 4 | Participles

Review

Participles are verbal adjectives: they are like adjectives in form, but are rooted in a verb.

What we learned this lesson

Here’s what we learned this lesson about participles:
  1. A participle is a derived from a verb
  2. A participle can function like a verb, an adjective, or a noun
  3. A participle has four forms that are similar to those of an adjective, being also inflected by gender and number
  4. Qal participles have the following identifiers:
  5. Most have an o-class first vowel
  6. Except hollow verbs, which instead drop their middle root letter
  7. And qal passive participles, which have a shureq for their second vowel

Israel Connection: בעד חיים (pro-life)

As is true throughout the world in our day, the unborn in Israel are dismissed as less than human and thus not deserving of protection. Not only is abortion legal in Israel, but it is common and often funded by the government. This is a horrible reality and something we invite you to join us in praying against—or to say it positively, that you would pray with us for life.
Meet Be’ad Chaim, an organization made mainly up of volunteers, pouring their time and hearts out to save the smallest among us.
בעד חיים
Be’ad Chaim (Hebrew for “Pro-Life”) has fought for the protection of mothers and children in Israel since 1988. Our offices span throughout Israel, providing services which include education, counseling, and tangible provision for needy mothers.
