Two More Examples
Let’s take a look at main point summaries for two more passages that we built in lessons 8 and 9.
Example 1: Main Point Summary of James 3:1-6
Notice in the example above that the main point summary follows the same logic as the sub-point summaries, and yet is written in reverse order. Sometimes it is most helpful to rearrange the order of the pieces in a main point summary.
Example 2: Main Point Summary of 2 Corinthians 4:7-15
Here, notice how I utilized the language of my broadest sub-point summaries to shape my main point summary. I also felt the English flowed better if I divided it into two sentences, highlighting the explicit Ac-Mn relationship in the conjunction phrase “This is how…”.
