Lesson 1 | The First Pass: Divide
Using the Phrasing Module
Now, let’s give you a chance to play around with the phrasing module so you know how to use it. Here is a practice area using the same verse I just went through in the previous step. Feel free to divide the verse further, remove divisions, move the phrases around, and experiment.
Make sure you try all of the following.
1. Toggle in and out of Editing mode
When you want to make changes to your phrase, toggle the Editing button from the module’s menu bar. You may also use the spacebar as a shortcut for toggling in and out of editing mode when the module is selected (indicated by a yellow line on top).
2. Divide phrases
Choose the Indent tab in the Editing floating menu. Then, click after a word to start a new phrase. Drag a phrase to the one above it to rejoin them.
3. Indent phrases
Choose the Indent tab in the Editing floating menu. Drag phrases to the left or right to show subordination or parallelism.
4. Draw arrows and identify relationships
Choose the Arrows+ tab in the Editing floating menu. Then, select which type of arrow you want or click on “New relationship,” and follow instructions for placement. (We will use this functionality later in the course.)
