Lesson 2 | The Context of Cfs

Adding To Our 3-Step Process

Let’s add what we learned to our 3-Step Discovery Process.

1. Read the passages that the writer expects you to be familiar with

Examine the context of refers-back-type cross-references until you more or less know what is going on.

2. Study the passage of focus

Remember that step three is meant to refine what you already have tentatively concluded in this step through careful reading and thinking. So while this step is not the focus of this course, in the long-term it should be the step where you give most of your attention.

3. Use Bible study tools to refine your study

Click through each cross-reference dot, expanding those which you are not well familiar with. As you do, note which you may want to examine at even greater length. After exhausting all the cross-reference dots, choose a couple and investigate their context further.
