Lesson 7: The Canonical Horizon

Studying Haggai

Before we finish the lesson with a review, a quiz, and a final assignment, let’s take a closer look at the Canonical Horizon with a passage from Haggai. I’ve chosen the first nine verses of Haggai 2, a single paragraph in the Hebrew text, and a long enough passage to explore several systematic theological themes.
As before, I won’t walk through the first step of Bible study here for time’s sake, but just share my arc and my phrase. Take a few minutes to look at the structure of the passage before you read the following paragraphs, and then answer the question underneath the images below.

Based on the arc/bracket and phrase above, what is the main point of the passage?

On the live course, students will be able to complete this question or task.

What are one or two ways that the arc/bracket and phrase indicate that this main point is supported?

On the live course, students will be able to complete this question or task.
Now let’s go through the process I described in the previous step with our eye on Haggai 2:1–9.
